Norfolk County Council: Thank You for Listening to your constituents!

Thank you for all of the concerned Citizens that made the hazardous drive to the Council meeting on Tuesday.

We want to say thank you to Council for allowing Mr. Squires and Mr. Kenline to delay the meeting regarding the 4th Concession Closure until December 10th when their lawyer will be present and they will be prepared to continue.  We were very disappointed that the meeting had been moved up at the last minute, however, are pleased with Council’s decision to move the meeting to the later date.  We're not sure why it was moved ahead in the first place though.

The meeting was adjourned and in the meantime County Staff will arrange a meeting with residents of the 4th Concession to address the problem.  The common position is one where the road is reopened to all of the public including seniors and the disabled/differently abled.

We hope that County Staff will have a reasonable estimate for installing guard rails on the existing bridge.  The cost that they have proposed previously is unbelievable for a 24 foot long one lane bridge.

Hopefully The Nature Conservancy of Canada has also made arrangements to collect the litter on the side of the road that has been there since they closed it.  Opening the Backus Trail to vehicular traffic from Highway  24 to Concession 4 more than one day per year should also be addressed.

See you all on the 10th!
