Another Norfolk County Boondoggle Costing The Residents More Money.

So, the Lagoon clean-up in Port Rowan will only go over the estimated budget by $200,000 to $300,000?

Council initially thought the job could get done for $291,000.  After that money had been spent, the new tender came in at a mere $774,500.  Not sure how they consider $200,000-$300,000 over budget equals $774,500, however, they have a way of doing math like we've never seen before.

The Mayor Dennis Travale said this week's meeting wasn't called specifically to deal with the clean-up in Port Rowan.  Time sensitive issues that will allow subdivisions and construction projects were alleged to be the real reason.

Hmmm, what's another $774,500 blown anyway for a broke County? Why call a meeting on it?  Just sign the cheque and move on.  Add it to the tab and sell off another asset, raise taxes, whatever the County sees fit.

Our General Manager Eric D'Hondt goes on to say that they should just raise the fees on waste disposal.

Throw the baby out with the bath water.  I can't make this up.  Mr D'Hondt is paid $140,743.02 per year and this is his wisdom? Whatever happened to doing the job right the first time?

Where are they getting these bids in the first place?  Why can't they start working with reputable companies who can give an accurate cost?

Is there any accountability in this Administration?  When does the sewage get cleaned up at Town Hall?
